The California Supreme Court announced it will rule on proposition 8 on Tuesday at 10:00 AM PST.   Rallies are planned throughout the country to either celebrate or protest the decision by the court.  Seattle’s rally will be at 5:30 PM at Westlake Center Park.

I have been working hard this weekend along with my awesome team of friends and volunteers to spread the word about the proposition 8 Day of Decision plans for Seattle, WA.  As many of you already know, the California Supreme Court has heard challenges to proposition 8, the voter passed amendment to the California state constitution which prohibits fair and equal access to marriage by gays and lesbians in California.  As we wait to hear that decision, organizers throughout the country are planning Day of Decision rallies to be held the day the court issues its verdict.

Many are presupposing  the court will uphold proposition 8 and let the hateful constitutional amendment stand.  If such an event occurs, protests will challenge the ruling throughout the country.  We will use that moment in history to propel the national fight for equality forward.

If the court sides with equality and repeals proposition 8, Day of Decision rallies will celebrate our renewed equality in California and work to secure equality throughout Washington state and the country.
